Meet Karyn Matthews

Hey there! I’m Karyn, the spirited coach behind Waves of the Soul. I'm on a mission to support amazing people like you who are ready to tackle life’s challenges with a hearty mix of honesty, reflection, and a splash of laughter.

 

Who says personal growth has to be all serious and somber? I believe healing should be as delightful as finding an extra fry at the bottom of your takeout bag—unexpected, joyful, and oh-so-satisfying. Together, we'll navigate the waves of your journey with warmth and a sense of adventure, always keeping an eye out for those delightful surprises along the way.

How I Embarked on This Journey

My roots are in New Jersey, but my real transformation began when I moved to the vibrant landscapes of Colorado in 2001. It was during this time that I embraced the medicine name given to me, "Singing Through Waters," reflecting my fluid, harmonious approach and my ability to mirror truth with clarity and expression. Eventually, I found my home in Wisconsin with my wonderful husband and two daughters. My healing journey kicked off during my teenage years—those glorious years when I thought I knew everything! Spoiler alert: I didn’t. But that’s where my curiosity for deeper practices and spiritual teachings began. Instead of the traditional therapy route, I gravitated towards life coaches and mentors who resonated with my vision of change and choice.

My Training and Experience

With a treasure trove of certifications in Strategic Intervention Coaching, Chakra Healing, Emotional Wellness, Somatic Healing, and Relationship Coaching, I've had the joy of facilitating a variety of groups—self-evolution, emotional well-being, relationship, and spiritual circles, to name a few.

 

My journey also includes leading talking stick circles and diving deep into archetypal training work. Beyond the formal training, my life experiences add a rich layer to my practice, allowing me to connect with you on a genuine, heart-centered level, always with a sprinkle of fun and playfulness.

Coaching vs. Therapy

While both coaching and therapy offer valuable support, they serve different purposes. Therapy often focuses on healing and understanding past experiences, helping individuals overcome emotional challenges and mental health issues. It’s about diagnosing and treating psychological problems, often delving into past traumas and behaviors.

Coaching, on the other hand, is future-focused and action-oriented. It’s about setting goals, creating actionable plans, and fostering personal growth. As a coach, I guide you in identifying your strengths, setting clear objectives, and achieving your desired outcomes. My role is to support you in reflecting on your current situation and finding the best path forward, using tools that encourage self-discovery and empowerment.
